Paperwork Closure

March 18th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in received

Whoa. I finally friggin’ finished my service logs for work. I was a month behind. Basically, they’re progress notes for every phone call, interaction, consultation regarding each case. That stems from the smallest things to making a phone call and leaving a voicemail, to having a therapy session with a client, to going to court. Every single interaction of any sort has to be documented. I was a month behind because my USB drive suddenly pooped on me and it was very devastating. I lost a month’s worth of progress notes, and I had to make them up. It was so sucky. I spent from Saturday to today working non-stop in between appointments and other consultations catching up.

Now, all I have to do are my time sheet, monthly status reports, assessments, treatment plans, and a plethora of exit summaries. Yeah, this is crazy. I’m so behind, but at least I don’t feel THAT behind anymore.

Yay for finished paperwork.

Pregnancy Signs

March 15th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in reflection

Pregnancy does funny things to the body. I hear lots of different things from women who have been through it before. It’s neat to hear all these different experiences, though it’s sometimes annoying when women tell their stories as if they are “facts,” like it’s “supposed” to happen with me too. I’ve found that for the most part, this pregnancy has been pretty easy (so far, anyway), though the skin changes and the emotions have been up and down. Like, for example, I haven’t had to use acne treatment in years and years, probably since I was a teenager. I drink a lot of water to begin with, which definitely helps with my skin. However, since pregnancy, my face has been breaking out a LOT. I don’t use anything to treat it — I tend to just wash my face and drink lots of water, but it’s definitely annoying when I look in the mirror and see a zit that wasn’t there just the day before.

And the stuffy nose! The stuffy nose is hard. It’s stuffy 24/7. All the time. Doesn’t matter if I’m sleeping, working, eating, resting, exercising, or climbing a mountain. It’s always stuffy. Outside, inside, stuffy. Always stuffy. It’s certainly getting on my nerves.

Eh well. I’ll take the bad along with the good. As long as we have a beautiful, healthy Baby Bean, that’s all we really care about.

The Wii Revolution

So we finally got a Wii!! We got it when my sister and brother were visiting last week, and since then Dave and I have been making some time to play together on it. He’s rented a few games from our local video store to see if they’re worth buying. Right now, we’re playing around with Super Mario Olympics, and that’s soooo much fun. I miss Nintendo games. Haven’t played it since I was a kid visiting my cousin’s house. Our little entertainment system is bursting at the seams, really. We’ve got so many cables here and fiber optic cables there, it’s really quite messy behind our tv. But, as long as I don’t have to see it, I don’t think about it. I’m just glad we’ve got the damn Wii now. It took a good month and a half looking for it cuz every place was sold out. Yeesh.

So, come on over and let’s play!

A Free Sunday

Well, I had to work today. :P Two appointments on a Saturday. It really hones in on the whole “work exhaustion” thing, really. I think I’m just making up the hours for when I didn’t work when my sister and brother were here. I’m still behind on a lot of paperwork, but after I do some site updates here and there, I’m gonna get down and dirty with that too.

Tomorrow is a free day. I like free days. However, I’m going to be spending a lot of it doing a bit of laundry and doing paperwork for work. I have so much to catch up on, and I hate being behind. This second trimester energy burst is a hit and miss with me. On the one hand, I like being able to have lots of energy to do whatever I want, and on the other hand, the “whatever I want” part is minimized by over-working at work. Boo. Hiss. Grunt.

Eh well. I look forward to being off on maternity leave with our beautiful Lily Bean anyway.

Coupons Galore

If you’re anything like my mother, you really really enjoy finding coupons you can use. In fact, you’d find coupons for items you don’t even use, and then spend those coupons just for the chance of saving some money. Heh. Ag gogoshopper, coupons are a common thing. Everything from personal health care using EdenFantasys coupons to other types of coupons. Games, toys, clothes, flowers. They have a very wide selection, which gives you the opportunity to save as much money as you want when you’re spending and shopping. Really, why pay the full price when you can easily spend a lot less on the same item? It’s smart shopping!

Glad to be Home

Wow. What a way to end a really busy week. Today, being Friday, was accompanied by a whole bunch of work crisis-related things. Some big stuff going on. I obviously can’t talk about it too much since it’s work and it’s all confidential, but wow. I don’t know how I feel about it all, and I’m just so darn tired. Physically exhausted. And emotionally drained.

Not to mention, I have to actually work tomorrow too. Two appointments tomorrow. I predict they won’t be too bad, but still. What a bummer to have to work on a Saturday. I haven’t done that in a long time and after this it won’t happen for another very long time.

I’m just glad to be home, with my doting husband and my cuddly kitty. And of course, with more time to spend lovingly rubbing my beautiful Baby Bean. :)

Bed and Breakfast Investment

March 13th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in encompassed

Ooh, so a while ago, the family talked about possibly getting all our heads and experiences together to look into property investment at Gabriola Island (which is an awesome island that we visit every summer to hang out and debrief and spend time together, stressfree-style). We were specifically talking about possibly getting a bed and breakfast going. Sylv (my mother in law) and a couple of my other in-laws even looked into lodging property brokers to see what is required and how much we’d have to spend and stuff. BB Inn Brokers specialize specifically in bed and breakfast property investments, such as motels, inns, cottages, resorts, cabins, etc. It would be fantastic if we could do this in a few years time, and all go in on it as a family. It’s important to go to brokers who know what they’re doing, especially in this very specialized market. Since none of us know how to get started, they would be a good asset on what we can do to get our feet wet and invest in such things. Having a bed and breakfast on the island would make us such a killing every year. What a great investment for Bean too!
