Seattle Family & Marriage Counseling

July 29th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in encompassed

As many of you may know, I’m a family and children therapist for at-risk families and youths. Because I’m based in the Bellingham, Washington area, I’m very interested in the other counties and cities around me, especially in the Seattle area. Some of my clients move to Seattle from Bellingham, and they’re always asking me about what types of counseling services I know of over there. Most of them could use some Seattle area marriage counseling after they have worked with me, and I like knowing now that I can refer them to an experienced and educated marriage and family counselor, Brien Wood. Like me, he maintains a master’s degree in counseling and psychology, and I highly recommend him because he sounds like an awesome asset to the counseling community.

Simplifying the Home

Dude, so the weird nesting habits begin, and it’s only been a week of marriage. Granted, it’s not like I haven’t been “nesting” for the past 8 years, or leading up to it, but since the wedding came and went, I’ve felt a great urge to re-organize, get rid of things, get new things, recycle, reuse, etc.

So as you may know from a past entry, I’ve discovered Craig’s List (*sends gratitude love to Craig, that ingenious bastard*). Like, that happened last night. Since then, I’ve sold three big furniture. A couple of dudes in a yellow van came by this afternoon and picked up our two old bulky bookshelves, and another lady is coming tomorrow to get a smaller shelf. Craig’s List is ingenious, I tell you. No images, just links of everything and anything anyone could ever possibly want. It’s crazy. Absolutely crazy.

I’m looking around trying to see what else I can sell. Hahah. Sylv, my mother-in-law (how cool is that?!) is taking three more of our bulky furniture — two coffee tables and a big shelf — off our hands, and Chris (Dave’s little brother) is finally re-claiming some stuff he’s had in our place from when they still lived here. Some really humungous speakers and his skis. Yeah, don’t know why they’re still here, but we’ve been using them as eye-sore shelving units and plant stands. Good to get rid of ‘em finally, I’d say.

Vacationing in Florida

July 28th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in encompassed

A few years ago my family and I went to Orlando, Florida. Actually, we’ve gone a couple of times, going to Disney World (which looks exactly like Disneyland in California!) and to Universal Studios. The weather in the summer in Orlando is always sunny, since it *is* the sunshine capital of the world, so they say! I’ve often toyed with the idea of possibly going with a bunch of friends and staying at a reunion resort so we can all stay in the same place and have fun. With most of my friends being from California, we’d have a blast looking up Disney news and other local attractions. Maybe we can even seek out some Orlando vacation rentals while we’re there so it would be like living like locals for a week or so! What an awesome vacation idea that would be!

Jaeden’s 2nd Birthday

Today we’re going to go to Jaeden’s second birthday party. The little guy turns a whopping TWO!! He actually turned 2 last Wednesday but we were all preparing for the wedding, so we haven’t had a chance to have his birthday party yet. It’s a little late coming this year. It’s okay, I have a feeling Kami and Dan gave him a special little one at home on his birthday anyway. When asked how old he is, he says, “Too!” and holds up 5 fingers. Haha.

I told Kami one time (well, several times), “I want one just like him!” And her response was, “I hear they’re in season!” Hehe.

Today is our first family function as a “married couple,” and I’m rather excited. I’m not sure why — it’s not like we haven’t done these family gatherings a bazillion times before over the last 8 years, but it’s just so exciting to be married. It’s really fun. I’m visualizing the day to go really well, and I’m betting everyone will ask us how married life is so far. Heh. I can’t wait to see the rest of the family again. They’re good people, and I’m proud to be a part of them!

Craig’s List

July 28th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in gratitude

Okay this is going to sound incredibly silly, but I just discovered Craig’s List. I know it’s been around and everyone swears by it, but I didn’t really think I’d have much use for it. Since we’re trying to get rid of our older furniture to make room for some new furniture that matches more of our style (married life is making me redecorate — weird), I thought I’d give Craig’s List a shot. Holy cowishness, that site is COOL!! I’ve listed four things I want to sell/give away in our home, and has gotten replies within the first hour. I’ve also perused through their wanted ads and found 4 local jobs that I not only qualify for, but would do awesome at and even pays more. I’m not really looking for another job, but it’s good to know it’s ready at my fingertips if and when the chance presents itself. Especially since it’s so easy to look for local jobs. The key word is local.

Yes, I give gratitude and bow down in appreciation to Craig’s List. Carry on.

The Police Video

As many of you know by now, The Police (the singing group, not the public service workers! ;P) got back together to do a tour. As you may recall from some previous posts of mine, Sting is one of my favorite singers and his voice is like magic. Back in the day when he was a part of The Police, those songs were equally dreamy and made him who he is today. Check out this awesome 30 second spot video by Universal Music on The Police and their awesome performances and music. I listed their double disc compilation Police CD a few posts back when they were first coming out (towards the beginning of June of this year). Included in the CD collection is a really awesome vintage styled poster of The Police back in the day. It’s like the band never left!

Video to embed:

I remember seeing an interview of some former members of The Police a couple of years back, and one guy said that he’s still waiting for Sting to come back and The Police get back together. I guess he got his wish after all, eh! If you’re one of those lucky people who have gotten a chance to check them out in concert, good for you! They were here a few weeks ago in Vancouver, B.C. with their concert and I remember hearing about all the buzz. I even mentioned it to Jen Romita when we went to visit her in their Vancouver apartment. It’s definitely exciting to see this group together again!

Some Wedding Videos

In case any of you are curious about the wedding and how it went, and looking at pictures just doesn’t cut it (besides the fact that you’re ever so curious about how I am “in real life” behind this crazy little screen called the internet), here are some videos of our wedding:

That was the ceremony and the very moment we got married — became officially “man and wife” after 8 years of being together and 1.5 years of engagement. It was so beautiful and as you can see, I was totally giddy!

This is my baby sister’s speech at the reception. She totally cried which made me and about half the room cry as well. I can’t believe how much she’s grown. 7 years younger than me, and now she’s taller than me and weighs a tad more! Some people think she’s older than me. :P Bleh. Regardless, she’s my baby sister and I love her to no end!

I can’t wait for the professional photos to come in, dang it. I already have an album of the photos taken from family and friends, and I can’t wait to see how the professional ones turned out.
