The First Training

May 31st, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in being

Man oh man, today has been weird. Here are a list of “weird” things that have happened so far:

- Traffic was NOT good — that was the only part of the visualizations that did not come true. It took me 4 hours to get to the training location when it should’ve only taken 2.5. It also took me 45 minutes to get from the training to my hotel room when it was only literally TWO BLOCKS. Ick.

- I think I suffered from slight heat exhaustion today. It felt like a thousand degrees in my car, and being so long in the car in this hot weather is not good.

- I will never live in the Seattle area or any big city for that matter because of this horrid, horrid traffic. Man. I don’t remember how or why I did it in Los Angeles for so long before I moved up here.

- Seeing an old coworker of mine in the same training. Good to see he’s doing well and married off and happy. It’s nice to see people happy.

- Having lots and lots and lots of vietnamese restaurants nearby. Wow. Like, almost every block. And lots of vietnamese people. Nice to have all these options at food. :D
- Staying in a nice hotel. The Holiday Inn here is very nice. Almost feels upscale. Hehe.

Miami Beach Condos

Man oh man! It looks like a lot of people are just vying to move to Florida. I’ve visited there a few times now with my family, and honestly, I know exactly what they’re thinking when they want to move there. Other than the hurricanes and the alligators (hehe), Florida is a beautiful, gorgeous place to be. The weather is beautiful and the people are nice. Condo life would be the perfect place for a vacation home, or for a retirement home. I suppose if I were to move there, I’d definitely be looking for Miami Beach condos through SBI Realty. They provide beautiful luxury homes and pre-construction condos that are both for rent and for sale. My mouth is already starting to water just picturing beach front property in Miami, Florida!

Visualizations for PCIT

So tomorrow I’m going to be taking a really long drive to Renton/Seattle, for my training overnight. It’s about a 3.5-hour drive for me, so I want to have some serious positive visualizations for my trip. I’ll be away from Dave-man for two days, one night. Not used to that at all.

- safe driving
- no accidents
- minimal traffic (hard to have traffic at around 5am)
- bagel and cream cheese for breakfast
- wireless internet in the hotel? MmMmm
- or at least internet access
- good training
- educational training
- un-boring training
- lots and lots of asian restaurants around to choose from
- good snacks in the training
- I hope they have either hot tea or hot chocolate for the drinks
- no crisis while I’m on training

Types of Insurance

May 30th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in encompassed

Man, finding the right insurance for anything you own and love these days can be such a bitch. I hate dealing with that type of stuff, but I know it is needed. I know we all need insurance because we need to be protected and secured. The most common types of insurance are car insurance, home insurance, and life insurance. However, I’ve been hearing a lot more about pet insurance. What an interesting thing to think about. And when I look at Tink, I wonder, too, if we should get insurance for her because vet costs can be huge and we want to be prepared for any potential ailments she may have in the future.

Home insurance is really important too. We will definitely get on that when we get our first home together. It is such a investment for us, that we want to protect it for our future and our children’s futures. It’s definitely something good to think about. We have to think a lot about these types of things.. insurance can be so expensive and we want to be able to do the best for our future without having to freakin’ lose an arm and a leg.

PCIT Training

So tomorrow, I’m going to a work training for PCIT, which is a therapy-type training for working with families with really young children. More parent-training type thing. I’m really looking forward to it. I absolutely love trainings that have to do with work. I look forward to them. Is that weird? I think for most people, it would be weird, because trainings mean going to boring meetings where big wigs talk about useless things and blah blah blah. But in the line of work I do, I adore trainings because they give me new techniques to help people. They give me new resources to work with people. New ways of thinking about things. I love trainings.

I hope I learn a lot. :)

Accent Training

May 30th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in encompassed

I remember when my mom was going to community college when I was a kid in order to learn English. She has a very deep accept that she’s always been quite self-conscious about, and I always try to tell her it’s not her fault, nor is it a “fault,” and that many people think it is endearing. She never believed me, and to this day she still tries to get rid of her accent. She overtries, in fact, if there is such a thing. She’ll enunciate things ten thousand times over before she’ll get to the point she was trying to say in English. Either that, or she’ll just give up before she starts and ask me to translate for her what she’s trying to say. I wish there was something like “accent training” available for her when she was going through all of that. She and my dad own a business and the majority of their customers and clients are English-only speakers. I know she’d have a more comfortable time communicating with her favorite customers if she could learn Business English (through Executive Language Training. I think something like that is very valuable, and although I appreciate the many colors our tongues can communicate in, understanding language and being able to communicate are so extremely important in this business world. It is also important in self-esteem too. :)

Holiday Hypermarket

Boy oh boy do I need a vacation. Especially since my last post, feeling unappreciated and all that junk (I feel better today though). I think it’s time for a vacation. One of the places I’ve been daydreaming of going is the UK. Or somewhere really sunny and sandy, like Hawaii or something. I haven’t been to Hawaii yet. Well, at least I know where to find cheap Maldives holidays when Dave and I decide to go on vacation. Look at how beautiful Maldives looks!! I didn’t even know the island existed, let alone how remote it looks. I am definitely keeping this one in mind.
