Pseudo House Hunting

February 7th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in headlines

It’s that time of year again, when I get all curious about real estate. I go searching through Craig’s List for local listings, and sometimes even international listings, such as Wilmington NC real estate. I like to browse, see how much places are going for and stuff. Sometimes I like to daydream about possibly buying one of these homes, of course. That’s the whole fun of it. House window shopping. I think HGTV got me hooked into this mess, badly!

Repairing Water Damage

January 11th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in headlines

Don’t you hate it, hate it, hate it when you have water damage? When we were getting our bathrooms renovated, we found out that it would cost us extra because we had some behind-the-tiles water damage that was leaking through onto our floors and underneath our toilet. It was absolutely gross, as we had no idea how long this damage went on for, or when it started, or even where. It cost us a bundle of extra cash we didn’t have to get it fixed, but when we did, it was godsend! Water Restoration 911 does exactly that — it repairs your home from water damage that could affect your health, your safety, and the overall look and feel of your home. No one wants to live with a home full of water damage, right? It rains here so often and so much that we have to be careful and up to date with all our plumbing necessities. I am so glad that we have our brand new kitchens to work with. It definitely makes taking showers — and baths — that much more fun, that much more clean, and I think it’s one of my favorite parts of the house now!

A Bed

January 7th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in headlines

Dave and I have decided about a year ago that we need a new bed. However, because we don’t have the funds yet, we can actually take some time to look at several different beds from several different places. At Time 4 Sleep, they have such a large selection, it’s amazing! All their beds look so comfortable. We have a queen size bed, so we’d be needing a queen size mattress.

Right now, we’re not sleeping so well because our mattress is lumpy. It was especially hard when I was pregnant. I’m telling ya — one of the most important things to have during a pregnancy is a comfy bed! If when we get pregnant again, I am definitely making sure we invest in a very awesome bed, preferably from Time 4 Sleep! A good night’s sleep is so important for everything, especially your mental and physical health! Most of my clients’ issues can be solved so quickly if the first problem was tackled right away: a good night’s rest. As long as someone has a good night’s rest, they can do anything. At Time 4 Sleep, they understand that, and their large, awesome collection just shows how much they care about your sleep. That’s important! I want a new mattress now!

Meeting Online

January 1st, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in headlines

As many of you know, Dave and I met online about 12 years ago. We became a couple 10 years ago (in fact, this upcoming February 12 is our 10-year anniversary of the day we first met). Back then, there weren’t many dating sites, but there were chat rooms. They were beginning to be more popular, and “dating online” was still seen as a backwards thing and still sort of frowned upon as “weird.” Nowadays, online dating is accepted everywhere, and it’s almost “normal” to know someone who has met their significant other online, either through a chat room or even more common now, through a dating site. There are so many out there, which ones would you know to choose? Which ones do you trust to find your heart a soul mate? Now, with Dating Directory, you can actually make comparisons and find the exact right site for you. Eharmony, or Match.com? Which one is easier to use, which one is more fitted to your style? Which one could you possibly find your future spouse there? In my direct circle, I know at least 5 people today who has met their spouse on a dating site. Isn’t that amazing? 10 years ago, Dave and I had to twist the truth, so to speak, about how we met. Nowadays, it’s so common that we just come right out and say it: we met online. Go for it. It could be right for you too.

Black Mold Removal

December 31st, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in headlines

A little over a year ago, we had our bathroom completely renovated. Both of them, actually, but the main one in the hallway was the most important because it was filled with nasty black mold. It was such an old bathroom — we were sooo ready to get rid of it and install something new and better. We didn’t realize how much mold was behind the walls until they were taken apart. Black Mold Removal from Water Restoration 911 does exactly this type of thing. It removes mold and makes for a healthier, happier living environment inside your home. I don’t know how much longer we could’ve survived with that nasty bathroom! I’m glad we had it all done and fixed. Now, along with Lily’s bedroom, it is one of the best rooms in the house! Next stop, we tackle the living room. Hopefully, there will be no black mold behind the kitchen sink, but if there is, we know exactly where to turn: Water Restoration 911! Now, we love going into the bathroom — it’s one of our favorite rooms. Haha. I can’t wait for when we love going into the kitchen too!

Attacking the Economy

December 30th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in headlines, reflection

During our economic downturn, it’s hard for small businesses to get a lead on things. While I am not a business owner myself, my parents and many of my aunts and uncles and other extended relatives are. It’s not encouraging and it makes me worry about their financial stability during this time of need in the U.S. While Canada’s economy isn’t as bad off as the U.S.’s, Canada is still affected. And besides, most of my relatives and family and friends are in the U.S., so I know they are affected as well — sometimes first hand.

My parents are talking about possibly needing another loan, perhaps one of those merchant accounts that we have been hearing about from so many different places. In order to keep their business afloat, they will have to make sure they have a solid, dependent, loyal clientele list — people who will come back and over and over again because they are loyal to my parents and because they have been doing it for years. They have to also give clients what they are asking for, and perhaps even more, in order to keep the new people coming back as well. During these times of financial stress, we need all the financial know-how to keep ourselves from going under. Sometimes that means getting more credit and getting another loan. Other times, it means thinking more creatively and knowing how to stay on top of such times of stress.

I know my parents are wise beyond their years when it comes to financial risk taking. I know they will be okay. I just hope everyone else affected by this economy will be as well.

Good Time Glasses

December 30th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in headlines

As you may all know, I wear glasses pretty much when I’m not in the shower or sleeping. I depend on them. In fact, they’re probably permanently attached to my face. Heh. So because of that, I have to make sure that not only are they functional, but also appropriate for my style as well as the image I want to portray. I want glasses that I can have fun in, as well as go to work and be serious in. Right now, I have rather boring black-rimmed glasses. I would love some Holiday frames that would really enhance the “fun” side of me, and represent who I am when I’m not a “professional” at work. I’m a relaxed, dorky mother and wife. I’m a friend. I’m a woman. I’m a geek.

These green ones are perfect! They’re dorky AND geeky AND fun all at once. Plus, they’re my favorite color — green! I can see myself wearing them to our family get-togethers, to my non-work-related appointments, to the park and the beach with Lily Bean, going shopping for groceries, etc. I can totally see myself just lounging in them and having a good time!
