She’s Won Me Over

There are so many things to be grateful for these days. I keep forgetting to update this site. Or, more likely, I don’t have as much time anymore to update this site. Lily is growing more and more everyday, and I find my days wrapped around her like white is wrapped around rice. I am so fascinated with this little creature that I helped create. Everything about her is a miracle. I am truly blessed.

The biggest thing I am grateful for these days is my family. My Lily Bean, my husband. Just … my family. I have the best family in the world. We fit like a square block fits into a square peg. It’s amazing. I am beyond happy and contented these days. Most of the time, I’m also exhausted beyond belief, and I hardly have any time to catch up on my social life. But regardless, I am so darn happy.

I feel myself changing. Evolving. Moving. I feel her pulling my heart towards her, everywhere she goes. I am so in love with my daughter. And she’ll never need promotional products to win me over.

Sleep is Good

I’ve been having some trouble sleeping at night. Mostly because our Lily Bean wakes up often right now due to her cold — she’d cough and cough and cough and it wakes her up and her throat is sore. Then she whines out a small cry for me to come get her. I go in briefly to comfort her, kiss her, and stick a binky in her mouth and off to sleep she goes again. It’s hard, though, as I know nothing that could immediately alleviate the pain she is. It is very, very hard to see your child suffering. I know all parents have known this for centuries, but this is new to me, and it is so very hard. Oi.

However, once I am able to go to back to sleep, it is almost like bliss. Oh yes, the sheer feeling of being able to just … _rest_ is a big deal. At least I am not in chronic pain, or have foot issues like Plantar Fasciitis. I think it is just because I work so hard when I’m awake that I am absolutely exhausted by the time I crawl into bed. And bed is bliss. Sleep is good.

An Updated List

I have a friend who worked for one of those debt collection agencies, and she has relayed stories to me about how NOT fun they are. Heh. That got me thinking, too. I am grateful that I don’t have big debts to pay off — besides my student loans. And then it got me thinking — I am grateful for many, many other things in my life. And therefore, this site deserves an updated list of grateful things.

- a job that pays okay
- a beautiful, healthy baby girl (albeit with a cold)
- a loving husband
- a warm home
- a new president :D yay!!!!
- food whenever I want to eat
- a warm bed
- a fireplace so that we may put logs in the fire
- a cuddly cat
- a clean home

That’s all for now. I’m pooped. I’m going to go lie down.

First Week of January

Ah it’s the beginning of the new year already, and we’re already closing into the first week of January. Where has all the time gone?! I’m already down to the bare minimum in my account, and it’s three weeks until pay day. Dude. That’s not good. Time to really be frugal the rest of the month. I just know that there are a lot to spend when I get paid, and I tend to do it all once pay day rolls around. That leaves me with almost nothing the rest of the month. And I’m not even spending anything on myself (other than the essentials, of course, like food and gas and stuff like that). Oi.

Anyway, this week is a good week. My brother is in town and we’re having a good time. He’s grown up a lot, and I am filled with such pride.

2008 Has Been Good

We’re getting ready to head out for New Year’s Eve dinner with Granny and Lily Bean. Yes, we’re exciting, party-going people we are. Ever since I can remember, since Dave and I got together, we have spent New Year’s Eve quietly and with people we love. For the most part, it’s been just the two of us, but this year it is marked with something even more special: a baby. Of course, she’ll be asleep when the bell rings for 2009, but we know where she is and we know she belongs to us, and that’s the best way to ring in the new year.

2008 has been good to us. We’re leaving it a little less financially stable, but a lot more happy and a lot more filled with love and life and family. We’re leaving it with one more person added to our family unit. What better way to end a good year?

The New Year Coming

I am really looking forward to the new year. Every year, when December rolls around, I am filled with hope as well as anxiety. Hope that things will be just as bright, if not brighter, than the year that just passed. Anxiety that there will be future worries that will settle themselves in my mind. Is there such a thing as anxiety over anxiety? I think that’s how people get panic attacks — when they worry about worrying. I think I remember a grad professor of mine telling me that one day in class.

I am trying not to worry, but to rather be more filled with love and hope. There is nothing better than coming into a new year filled with love and hope and wonderfulness. I have everything I ever wished for, and more — a beautiful, cute, healthy baby girl, a husband who adores me and who I adore, a good job where I get to help people, extended family I enjoy spending time with. What more can a girl ask for? Nevermind the fact that I don’t buy myself $300-purses. I don’t need that stuff. Nevermind that I only have about 5 pairs of shoes I wear on a regular basis. That’s all I need.

It’s great. I am looking forward to the new year.

Truly Blessed

Well, Christmas has come and gone, and we’ve even got the tree down yesterday. The stockings are put away, the ornaments are in their respective boxes, the tree is smushed into its own. The only remnants of the holiday left to be seen is probably the snow outside, though that is beginning to melt away also. It’s always a little tad sad when Christmas is over now. Growing up, I dreaded the holiday, but now, as an adult, being allowed and able to make it my own with my own family unit makes it that much more special. Although the financial stresses were big, the overall holiday was something to be remembered. The excitement leading up to it, the “getting” of gifts for those I love, the wrapping of those gifts, and the visual I get when they open these gifts — it’s all so much fun.

This year, I didn’t get much in the form of presents, but I feel that much richer. I think my gift this year was being able to get gifts for Lily Bean. All my energy was into making this Christmas — her very first! — extra special, and I think we did just that. We got loads of pictures of her in her various Christmas gear with her various different gifts. She loves all of her presents (she doesn’t quite understand why she got them, but the excitement on her face when we play with the toys with her, especially the jolly jumper, is absolutely priceless). It’s so neat to see the excitement on a 5-month-old’s face.

This year, I am truly blessed. There is only more to come.
